Waiting for Mother

I was compelled to paint this piece after the horrendous tsunami of Boxing Day,December 26, 2004. So many lives were lost, so much damage and ruin left behind by the huge tidal waves, so many tears were shed around the world.

In this picture, a child sits alone on the beach clutching his teddy bear, shaded by one lone palm tree. He gazes wistfully out upon the ocean, waiting for the waves to carry his mother back to him.

Painted with watercolours on canvas board.
